The narrative arc of my acting career so far:
Thrills at age seven with role of Godmother Beauty in a production of Sleeping Beauty with the Children's Theatre in Arlington, Virginia.  Acting classes in elementary school.  Junior High stardom and more community theatre.  Trouble at college when cool theatre department repelled non-majors.  However, some  theatre classes still open (including one in French!) and performances in non-departmental productions.  Graduate school in Speech-Communication leads to some radio dramas and voice-over work.  Sublimation of acting impulse through teaching, then later through public speaking as part of my arts administration work.  Discovery of fledgling Gilbert & Sullivan Company with annual spring production.  Sporadic community theatre.  Leaving my regular employment frees me for making more of a commitment to theatre.

My theatrical family?
My great-grandfather used to play the role of Chief Kawanhee at a camp for boys in Maine.  One grandfather directed plays for a small theatre company in Pennsylvania.   The grandparents on my other side participated in amateur theatricals (and concerts), with my grandmother sewing costumes for both of them.  My parents both performed in community theatre at some time or another and participated in play readings as part of a social group.  My step-father had a brief career as a clown (after retiring as a Lt. Col. from the Marine Corps).   Okay, it's not the Barrymores.
